The healing powers of yoga

When i first thought of yoga, i was hesitant to begin and thought it was all just some hippie stretching boring thing. Then i started practicing it, realised how good of a workout it was and practiced some more. But it then died down a bit in my life like another old fad.

But in the last year i have began to love it again. But this time in a whole new way. I now practice yoga for the mind-body connection and the emotional release as well as the physical strengthening. Just getting into child’s pose when stressed or tired or overwhelmed releases so much emotion I didn’t even know i had built up inside of me. Next thing i know i am in tears on the ground crawled up in a ball.
Another thing yoga helps with is that it connects your physical body to your mind. I know right… say what? Yes, you heard it. Most of us often go through our days unaware of how we feel in our bodies. It often isn’t until something is out of balance that we become aware of what is happening in us. Yoga helps us to be more mindful and present in these containers of our soul (aka our bodies).
The key, no matter what the pose, breathe!
