Do you feel overwhelmed around food? Do you eat large amounts of food in a short period of time? Oh who am i kidding... you will know if you have binge eating disorder or bulimia by now I'm sure. If you are anything like me, you would have already searched through all the sites to stop binge eating, or watched all the youtube videos on how to recover or eat normally. So lets get to it.

HOW TO BEAT AN BINGE EATING

- Love yourself (NOW... not when you lose weight)

- Practice mindfulness

- Forgive yourself

Firstly, fall in love with yourself. No, not in a stuck up kind of way, in a way that you treat your body with utmost respect, kindness and compassion. Your body is the container of your soul. It has never done anything wrong by you. If it is not the way you want it to look it is primarily because of what you have done. It continues to function no matter what you do to it. You are your soul. That is it. You are a soul living in a body having a human experience. Treat this body in a way you would treat your best friend. When you love yourself enough, you feel no need to torture yourself with food or restrict yourself when hungry. Loving yourself means that you listen to your body. It means that you eat when hungry, don't eat when not hungry and be kind to yourself.

Ok, so how do i love myself when i am so fat and ugly? Find one thing you do love about yourself and focus on that. Whether it be your eyes, your hair, your smile or your big toe... focus on something so when you look in the mirror you compliment yourself rather then tear yourself down. Surround yourself with positive affirmations. Place a sticky note on your mirror saying "I love and accept myself exactly as i am right now" or "I love you (add your name)".

Secondly, when you become more mindful in everyday life you begin to understand the reasoning behind the urge to eat. When you can stop to take a deep breath and check in with yourself, i promise you will get a sense of relief. Meditating can enhance this, but if you aren't up to that, even just taking one deep breath when you feel overwhelmed will help. Being more mindful means that you can catch yourself before you do something you will regret. Once you are aware of your triggers you are on the path to recovery.

Forgive, forgive and forgive some more. Forgive yourself for eating too much. Forgive yourself for harming yourself. Once you can forgive yourself, you can move on and get back to regular eating. That doesn't mean not eating the whole next day, it means listening to your body and eating when hungry again. It means moving your body in a healthy way (not for hours in the gym). Forgiveness will be your best friend. Your body will handle what you do to it, just remember to love yourself enough to listen to your body.

Overall, believe that you can beat this. Visualise yourself eating normally, being happy and living your best life. Picture the relationships you could have with others when you aren't hiding away in regret or obsessing about food. Picture what you want your life to be like. Do you want to stay like this forever? I imagine the answer to that is a "hell no".

If you want more help or support with this feel free to send me a message and i will be in touch.

You can do this beautiful! There is so much more to life
